Everyone says to dress in layers, which is true, but my niche tip is about what layers. One, avoid noisy fabrics like nylon, which make sounds with every move you make. Those ‘sounds’, no matter how subtle, can mask the very sounds you are there to hear. My advice is to go for cotton, wool, or soft fleece.
Also, footwear is very important. You might be tempted to think, “We’re just sitting, so sandals are fine,”. But always, always wear closed shoes. The ground, even when swept, can have thorns. Plus, you’ll be moving quite a bit, and sandals are not fitted for that.
And last but not least, wear neutral colors to blend in and consider bringing binoculars for stargazing. Last but definitely not least, bring a camera, but no bright flashes that might disturb wildlife
